Hear music by composers with Chicago connections at Fourth Presbyterian Church, featuring Comes Autumn Time by Leo Sowerby, organist-choirmaster at St. James Episcopal Cathedral from 1927-1962, as well as associate organist at Fourth Presbyterian in 1919, Pavane by Richard Proulx, who had a long association with Holy Name Cathedral, Fanfare, Variations and Toccata on “Hark! A Thrilling Voice Is Sounding” by James Biery, In Quiet Mood by Florence B. Price, the first African-American woman to have a work performed by a major orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in 1933 and Thomas’s Variations on Simple Gifts.
