The Many Faces of Cy DeCosse: A Retrospective @ Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Cyrille “Cy” DeCosse’s many creative endeavors have explored significant technological and cultural shifts at the intersection of art, design and media over more than six decades. DeCosse finds what he calls “hidden life in everyday objects.” Fruits, flowers and garden gates convey a sense of timelessness; they exist apart from a specific moment and location. In his photographic collection, The Frost Garden, DeCosse has focused his camera on windows in his Minnesota home, capturing fantastic worlds of ice on the pane.

Enjoy a 7:30 PM performance of special music commissioned from prominent Minnesota composers Mary Ellen Childs, Randall Davidson, Steve Heitzeg, Sarah Miller, and DET for OboeBass! (Carrie Vecchione, oboe; Rolf Erdahl, bass) in honor of Cy DeCosse by Penny and Bill George and the George Family Foundation. Thomas’s work, The Arrival of the Snow Birds, riffs on Decosse’s photo from The Frost Garden.
