South Metro Chorale 20th Anniversary Gala features commissioned work by DET
All five former conductors will lead the Chorale in music from past seasons, culminating in the world premiere of River Dreams by David Evan Thomas, a setting of five poems by Minnesotans of a bygone era about land, water and sky.
The South Metro Chorale is celebrating its 20th anniversary by throwing a party! This Gala Event will be hosted in the stunning Gideon S. Ives Auditorium of the Masonic Heritage Center, and will feature food, drink and music! Come experience a program conducted by all five previous (and current) Artistic Directors, which features highlights from their work with SMC. After the concert, we’ll raise our glasses to toast the next 20 years of music! Join us!

The Minnesota State Band, conducted by Keith Liuzzi, performs David Evan Thomas’s One Fair Summer Eve, a suite commissioned for the 120th Anniversary of the Band in a concert at Sinclair Lewis Park, Sauk Centre, MN. More here.
The Minnesota State Band is the Official Band of the State of Minnesota and has been in existence for 120 years (since 1898). The band is the only remaining State Band in the United States. While at one time the band received funding from the State of Minnesota the band is now operated as a non-profit organization with an all-volunteer membership. The Minnesota State Band is one of the few community bands anywhere that regularly travels internationally. The Band has represented the State of Minnesota on six International Goodwill Tours since 1986. While international travel is important, the band sees its primary mission as providing high quality music to the residents of Minnesota.
To Live in This World receives its second revival at Music in the Vineyards, a vibrant and tasty chamber music festival in California’s Napa Valley.
Commissioned in 2002, To Live in This World brings to life three poems of the late Mary Oliver and is dedicated to the memory of MITV’s Founding Executive Director Gail Adams. This performance will be sung by the amazing young soprano Tori Tedeschi Adams.
This performance takes place at the stunning Hess Collection, an art gallery as well as a vineyard.
