Jim Reilly and Beatrice Giere give the premiere of David Evan Thomas’s Green Thoughts in Green Shade, a three-song cycle for tenor and piano on poems by Andrew Marvell. The performance is part of a chapter meeting of the Twin Cities Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, the music fraternity, on December 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Brunswick United Methodist Church, Crystal, Minnesota.

Green Thoughts was written in 2015 at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, CA as part of Thomas’s 2013 McKnight Artist Fellowship. Also music by Reilly, Bach and Dupré, played by organist  Wesley Miller.

David Evan Thomas has been honored with two McKnight Foundation Artist Fellowships, an Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and commissions from the Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Born in Rochester, New York in 1958, Thomas studied at Northwestern University, Eastman School of Music, and with Dominick Argento at the University of Minnesota. His music is published by ALRY, ECS, MorningStar, Augsburg Fortress, Tritone and several other publishers. Thomas lives in Minneapolis. More: www.davidevanthomas.com.
