The Choir of the Priory Church of St. Mary, Abergavenny, Wales, premieres David Evan Thomas’s setting of Psalm 121, “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes” in a Celebration Evensong. Thomas’s work was commissioned for the 25th anniversary of the tenure of Choirmaster Tim Pratt. The choir is a 40-strong mixed choir with boys and girls singing the treble line,
St. Mary’s Priory has a history that spans a thousand years. Described as the “Westminster Abbey of Wales,” the church was built as a Benedictine Priory in around 1087, The Priory was spared by the Tudors during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, becoming the Parish Church of Abergavenny.
