Program Note
The Welsh National Anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, is a source of Welsh pride and identity. It appears here in E-flat, the key of the WNAA hymnal. The words were written by Evan James and the tune composed by his son, James James, both residents of Pontypridd, Glamorgan, in January 1856.This arrangement could be a prelude to the singing of the hymn, but it is intended as a solo, not accompaniment. This arrangement also appears as the last in a volume of eight arrangements for solo piano of Welsh folk songs: Welsh Album/Albwm Gymraeg.
